How to say I/me in Thai

ฉัน (chan) and ผม (phom) are two personal pronouns in Thai that are used to refer to the speaker. Both words can be translated as "I" or "me," but there are some differences in how they are used.

ฉัน (chan) is the more formal and polite way of saying "I" or "me" in Thai. It is commonly used in formal or business settings, as well as when speaking to strangers or people who are older or in a higher social status.

ผม (phom) is a more casual and informal way of saying "I" or "me" in Thai. It is commonly used among friends or in casual conversations, and is generally considered less formal than ฉัน (chan), but ผม (phom) is only used by men, while ฉัน (chan) can be used by both men and women.

Daily Thai uses ฉัน (chan) in all our lessons, because it's more appropriate when meeting strangers or for business, and it can be used by both men and women.
